Limited edition signed prints for Haiti

‘Renmen’ is the Haitian word for Love, and the bird in my illustration is the Hispaniolan Trogon, the national bird of Haiti. The Renmen Project has been brought together by the team at Thunder Chunky and Ben The Illustrator in order to raise funds for UNICEF’s Haiti Appeal.

I was very honoured to be asked to contribute to the project, and my limited edition signed prints are available right now! They’ve been printed as A3 posters, printed on lovely High White Smooth 315gsm 100% Cotton Rag, pH neutral, acid-free art paper, using 8-colour Epson UltraChrome K3 ink, and are just £20 each, with all proceeds going to Unicef. Thanks so much to the guys at Ripe Digital and Rik Penny for making this possible, and for their kind donation of time, expertise and materials.

Please support if you can. There are only twenty of these, and several have sold already, so what are you waiting for? Thanks in advance for your generosity.

Death Wish 3 night at the Curzon Soho

On Friday we went to the Death Wish 3 midnight movie at the Curzon Soho, and I was very pleased to see my artwork in the cinema foyer, as well as a widescreen version of the flyer which I designed for the actual cinema screen:

Thanks again to Edgar and for the support and shout out on the night, and also to Michael at the Curzon, who you can see in the photos below sporting Bronson hair and ‘tache. Well, I’m presuming this isn’t his normal get-up, but I can’t be sure as it was the first time I met him. It’s also worth noting that Death Wish 3 is utterly insane, with Lambeth doubling for New York, some downright bizarre music cues and edits, and some inspired (read hilariously bad) dialogue. It was a really fun night, and it’s great to see a movie like that with a crowd.

Round table discussion in Computer Arts

Don’t let this put you off buying a copy, but you’ll find my ugly mug in the lastest issue of Computer Arts (172) taking part in a round table discussion, all about the so-called ‘cutting edge’ of design.

It was very nice of Graeme Aymer to invite me, and I figure it’s good to give these things a go if the opportunity arises. Over a couple of hours it was good fun chatting with illustrator Jo Fernihough, Joc Marchington from JocJonJosch, Richard Neville from Spike and Matt Rice from Sennep.

I think we covered some interesting issues, and if you pick up a copy I hope you enjoy it. And besides, we met in a Hoxton pub so it must be relevant, right?!

Flyer for Edgar Wright’s Death Wish 3 Presentation

Curzon cinemas run a ‘Midnight Movies’ series, and later this month, Edgar Wright will be introducing the Charles Bronson classic, Death Wish 3, at the Curzon Soho. I created a flyer for the event, combining a loose black and white drawing of Mr. Bronson with some hefty type.

I know I’ve said it before, but I think it’s such a shame that movie posters are so rarely hand-drawn these days. Well, and that they only ever seem to be set in Helvetica too. So this is a little salvo fired at ‘the man’ in movie marketing departments everywhere. Plus I had tons of fun creating it!

Thanks very much to Edgar for the support, and to Michael at Curzon, who’s been very appreciative of the piece and is looking to get it printed and distributed for the event.

Oh, and you’ll find some closeups on a few details on the portfolio page.
