Death Wish 3 night at the Curzon Soho

On Friday we went to the Death Wish 3 midnight movie at the Curzon Soho, and I was very pleased to see my artwork in the cinema foyer, as well as a widescreen version of the flyer which I designed for the actual cinema screen:

Thanks again to Edgar and for the support and shout out on the night, and also to Michael at the Curzon, who you can see in the photos below sporting Bronson hair and ‘tache. Well, I’m presuming this isn’t his normal get-up, but I can’t be sure as it was the first time I met him. It’s also worth noting that Death Wish 3 is utterly insane, with Lambeth doubling for New York, some downright bizarre music cues and edits, and some inspired (read hilariously bad) dialogue. It was a really fun night, and it’s great to see a movie like that with a crowd.

Flyer for Edgar Wright’s Death Wish 3 Presentation

Curzon cinemas run a ‘Midnight Movies’ series, and later this month, Edgar Wright will be introducing the Charles Bronson classic, Death Wish 3, at the Curzon Soho. I created a flyer for the event, combining a loose black and white drawing of Mr. Bronson with some hefty type.

I know I’ve said it before, but I think it’s such a shame that movie posters are so rarely hand-drawn these days. Well, and that they only ever seem to be set in Helvetica too. So this is a little salvo fired at ‘the man’ in movie marketing departments everywhere. Plus I had tons of fun creating it!

Thanks very much to Edgar for the support, and to Michael at Curzon, who’s been very appreciative of the piece and is looking to get it printed and distributed for the event.

Oh, and you’ll find some closeups on a few details on the portfolio page.
